As we were watching the Emmy nominations live on CNN this morning, we held just the slightest sliver of hope that with the new nomination system, our favorite would make the cut. Her show's been on for over five seasons, and although Lauren Graham continues to be one of the greatest comic actresses currently on TV, an Emmy nomination has passed her by yet again. What kind of world are we living in where Charlie Sheen can get a nomination but Lauren Graham can't? A messed-up kind of world, that's where.
Nominations that did make us happy:
- Andre Braugher for Best Actor in a Miniseries/Movie. We admit that we never watched his show Thief, but we fondly remember his days on Homicide: Life on the Streets. The man can act.
- Arrested Development for Best Comedy. Because it so was.
- Project Runway and The Amazing Race for Best Reality Competition Show.
- Grey's Anatomy for Best Drama. While not the best show on television, it is damned addictive.
- Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson for Best Supporting Actress for above show. And Will Arnett for Best Supporting Actor for Arrested Development. Oh, Gob! We miss you.

Where can I sign up for the Lauren Graham fanclub? Does membership include free fashion/haircare tips?
Thief as a miniseries? I thought it was supposed to be a full series that ended up canceled. I watched two episodes and then lost interest.
Hope Kiera Sedgewick gets the Emmy for The Closer. That's a great show and she's a great character.
I wanted to like that "Closer" show, but Sedgwick's accent annoyed me. A LOT.
And, yeah, I didn't realize "Thief" was a miniseries.
Sorry but Lauren Graham has one persona: the exasperated, PMSey working mom with staccato conversational style. "Yes, mother I know you'd like to buy Rory a Ferrari, but it's not going to happen! Let's just drop it, OK?" She's gorgeous, and pretty funny, but it's a stretch to call her one of the "greatest comic actresses."
I gotta go with Kenneth on this one. Graham's work is a tad, well, one-dimensional. But she *is* a knockout. I'll give ya that.
okay, forget Lauren Graham. I'm about to forgive the Emmy guys since they nominated Kathy Griffin's show on Bravo for Best Reality Program. Does this make her move off the D-List, though?
