Woman Apparently Died on Lake Travis Over the Weekend

news.jpg

Let this please be a sad reminder to us all to be very careful when celebrating the holiday.

An area woman is presumed dead after sliding from a party boat on Lake Travis Saturday night. If confirmed, this will be the second time someone has died from going off a slide on a party bat this summer. And summer just started.

The woman was on a boat in the ominously-named Devil's Hollow Cove, on the north side of the lake. Naturally, people on the boat were boozing, but police are not reporting whether this victim had been partaking or not. We would assume that few people on party boats at 10pm are sober. There is no word on whether the death could spell legal problems for the boats operators, Just for Fun - a grossly ironic moniker.

If the woman died, it would be the fifth death on Lake Travis this year and the 22nd in three years.

There is no irony about someones early death. My sympathy goes out to the young girl's family and friends.

There's no irony in the fact that it was Devil's Cove. Agreed, though, that these slides seem to be a big problem with intoxicated revelers.
