There is a Delicious Barbecue Sandwich alert going out to Central East Austin, where, over the weekend, it was discovered that the tiny Pig Out! Restaurant (which specializes in catering as well as eat-in) at the corner of Manor and Rogge has a chopped beef sandwich that should be inspected post-haste by all area barbecue nerds. In an effort to stick it to July, it's recommended that all thirsty patrons suck down a gallon or two of iced tea while there.
There is also a 100% chance of delicious Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothies at Zoombaz drive-thru in North Austin. Drive through. As in no getting out of the car. Take that, July!

On the subject of peanut butter and bananas, perpetually reliable source Rose Russell reports that the PB&J Panini at Clementine Coffee Bar is tops in the city, and we believe her. One thing is certain, their wireless signal, iced soy lattes and air conditioning are all strong. Again, July, up yours!

Thanks for the post. I just noticed Pig Out the other day, and want to go try it and that place across the street from it that says they specialize in "Dirty Southern Style" fried fish and chicken. But when talking great eastside Bar-B-Q sandwiches, you should also try Lewis' Bar-b-q in the tiny hot pink shack off MLK just west of Airport. They have a combo sandwich that's piled high with brisket and sausage - probably weighs a half pound - for just over $4. It's my favorite cheap meal.
