"Independents" Week Starts Tomorrow

I-Bought-Local-yellow.jpgShopping at locally-owned businesses puts three times the dollars into Austin's economy, according to numbers published by the Austin Independent Business Alliance (AIBA) on their website

To celebrate Austin's Independent [Business] Week, AIBA, Mayor Will Wynn, and a bunch of local shops have teamed up to launch the "I Bought Local" sticker campaign. Kinda like the ones you get when you vote, these armadillo-themed stickers are a nice way to show off your support for our city's local merchants.

Participating shops include:
Birds Barbershop, BookPeople, Planet K, I Luv Video, InStep, Happiness, Long's Vacuum, The Herb Bar, The Pilates Center, Waterloo Records, Work Clothes & More, Bookwoman, Celebration!, Cream Vintage, Daily Juice, Farm to Market Grocery, The Whip In, Upstairs Mens Apparel, Wheatsville Co-op

Mayor Wynn will be inaugurating the campaign by making a purchase at Bookpeople tomorrow morning at 10:15am, after which he'll say a few words about "the importance of local business to our community."

As a reminder, you can use national chain competitor gift certificates at Waterloo Records.
