Another Child Enters the Foster Care System

Earlier this month (see our post), a young Cedar Park boy ate nine LSD-laced Sweettarts while his mother was partying. Upon his release from the hospital over a week ago, he was not returned to his family. The three-year-old was put in foster care and after a custody hearing yesterday will remain in foster care for the time being. His mother has been charged with child endangerment and abandonment, but his father (who is currently serving in Iraq, but was able to come home for the hearing) and his great-grandmother were hoping to get temporary custody.

As a veteran foster/adoptive parent for the last 11 years it does not surprise me that a parent would choose drugs over the welfare of her own child. The sad fact is...that it is our children who suffer at the hands of adults who choose to throw their own lives as well as their children's lives away to addiction.

I say wake up America...this is our future generation! We must, as a nation, spend our money on prevention and bring prayer back into our schools!

Until then, my husband and I will continue to take care of and nurture America's neediest population! Children are always worth our Best Effort!

Wait - didn't someone defend the child's right to take LSD and experiment? This is more right wing control - that child should have the right to choose! Maybe, just maybe he chose to do 9 hits. I mean I was crazy and young once and did three, but he may be a trooper.
