There's some fresh blood in Austin's theatrical waters. Our first instinct was to round them up in our pickup, blindfold them, and spank 'um real hard with cricket bats. But that's been done.
Instead, we bring you news of the very first production -- ever -- by The Vestige Group. Fat Pig, a play about a good looking guy who falls for a woman who, according to "society's norms", he shouldn't have been attracted to. Steamy, sexy, and full of voluptuous women saying naughty things to dashing young men, this Neil Labute comedy (yes, that's right, Neil Labute has written a play that's supposed to be funny), just finished a critically acclaimed Broadway run.
See if these Austin newbies stack up this Friday, Saturday and Sunday only at the Dougherty Arts Center. We're unfamiliar with most of Pig's cast, but keep an eye on Clayton Kjos -- you've probably heard him on your radio, and we happen to know he does a damn fine job on stage, too. Visit the Vestige Group website for information on tickets, parking, and buying Vestige Group merchandise (seriously, they're selling shirts, hats, mugs, the whole works).
