Starting in the US in September, Dell will become the first CPU manufacturer to take its free computer recycling worldwide. Dell has been a partner in the computer recycling program here in town for a while now, and they've also been recycling their own computers in Europe. When this program starts, no matter where you are in the world, if you have an old Dell CPU, the company wants it back (and you won't have to pay to recycle it). Not only will this global step please environmentalists, but Mr. Dell hopes that this will cause a spike in sales to environmentally-conscious consumers. We're hoping that Apple will get on the bandwagon (please!).
The Texas Campaign for the Environment lists some scary reasons why you should recycle your computer.

Government Recalls Cars and Cribs [News Bits]

Hey now. You can't fool me. That there is a *German* keyboard...! Which is fitting, really, since Europeans in general are about a zillion times better than we are at recycling.
The use of this photo of a German keyboard just emphasizes the global aspect of this move by Dell.
/I totally didn't notice it was a German keyboard.
Intel, AMD, Motorola, and IBM make CPUs, while Dell, Apple, HP, and Sony make computers. Okay, AMD is marketing company that reverse engineers Intel chips, but you get my point.
