Austin media was abuzz yesterday over the alleged kidnapping of 26-year old Lilian Gomez near the busy downtown intersection of Third and Red River, at around 1 A.M. on Sunday morning. Gomez and an unnamed female friend were reportedly ambushed by a group of men, who beat up the two ladies and then stuffed Gomez into their jalopy. What was so utterly astounding about this incident was the sheer bravado displayed by these loathsome individuals, driving off with the helpless victim in front of countless bystanders.
What's even more astounding, though, is that Lilian Gomez
probably doesn't exist! Neither, for that matter, did the group of men. This unnamed female friend, it turns out, was assaulted by a male whom she knew -- most likely an ex-boyfriend -- and for some reason or another decided to cover-up the incident by fabricating this ludicrous kidnapping story. Details about the case remain vague, but it at least appears that it's been transferred from APD's Homicide Division to the Family Violence Unit.

Government Recalls Cars and Cribs [News Bits]

This was another great "story" for the local Fox affiliate. I swear it was like they were TRYING to get the word "hispanic" into their description of the "kidnappers" as often as possible. "The only description of the hispanic kidnappers is they were hispanic. Hispanic." Be afraid young people on 6th street! The hispanics are comin' to get ya!
Oh wait, no they're not. That girl was full of shit.
