I went to Austin High and we saw these photos almost 2 years ago...we knew that if they ever got out and if the Austin High mothers found out it would end up like this...

Hey, the other anon, the poser. Stop using my name on this site. I have to admit that this siuation is a set back for the proclaimed prgressiveness of Austin. It's to bad that the religious right has to have thier hands in everything. Why is there not going to be any review of any of them? Just a firing of the person who didn't show these to the class and who had photos taken of themselves. I have pictures of me on the beach in Mexico, should I be fired for being in shorts and no shirt? AISD is just ridiculous.

What a dumb mess! Do teachers really need to live in fear of being misunderstood for things that are not offensive to begin with yet sought out by people who will be offended by everything?!? Also, with the vague, opinion based language that draws the line on what's ok, shouldn't it be completely rewritten in detail (especially now with everyone posting their entire life on the internet) since that's what this will come down to??? It's obvious that those were genuine artistic photographs but try telling that to a school kid who will only see "boobies" and a mean co-worker who will only see a way to get rid of the person they don't like...

I agree - the photos are amazing...you could call them, "art" perhaps. Even the nudes are artistically done, and in no way meant to arouse or gratify. The case before in the other state, Florida I think, was a teacher who posed for the US Bikini Team. This also shows the research skills of our students. When they fail to find sources for a paper, they now have no excuse because somehow they have the ability to find photos of their art teacher.

Ditto to scott and especially to anon. The vindictive teacher should be disciplined (and ideally get the boot, IMO). I would be furious if any of my kids' teachers were behaving in such a juvenile, unprofessional way. I hope Ms. Hoover wins her case. I'm not sure things will ever be the same for her at her school, though, which is terribly unfair to her.

Morals indeed. What was the one teacher exhibiting when she was talking smack to her students about another teacher? Is destructive gossip in the workplace a good thing? At any rate, she should receive a reprimand for that. I would reprimand any of my employees that gossiped about other employees to the clients or anyone else. I'm confused. The teacher had reason to believe the photos would be inappropriate and showed them to the class anyway. She was the one showing base and vile behavior as well as poor judgment. What if the photos had been pornography, then the class would have seen them? BTW: The photos are fantastic. I wish someone would take such great photographs of me.

Something's fishy. The photos on Danger's site are very tame. There's four of them in a shower, but they don't show anything "naughty." The remainder only show the two of them mugging for the camera or kissing in their undies. Methinks twasn't the nudity that got Ms. Hoover canned.

It sucks. Wasn't there another teacher fired in the last year for some similar online thing? I think this is why people start setting their online profiles to private and friends-only. The conservative forces are out there ready to pounce on online expression, especially anything exposing skin, whether it's artistic or not.

Seems like there should be a disciplinary hearing for the teacher and student that displayed the images in front of the class. SHE should be fired and the student suspended if these photos are actually used to terminate Ms. Hoover. (which they should not, she is an artist after all)
