We like beer and nachos with our movies. Even more, we like a double feature. It also makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside to support The Alamo Downtown while drinking beer, eating nachos and watching a double feature. Veritable screaming and writhing ecstasy comes from supporting indie filmmakers while drinking beer, eating nachos and, yes, you guessed it--watching Dear Pillow and Kissing On The Mouth in a special engagement this Thursday, June 15th at the original Alamo.
Director Bryan Poyser was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award (think: Oscars for indies) in 2005 for Dear Pillow, the story of a 17-year-old grocery bag boy (Rusty Kelley) who, in his adolescent quest for booty, befriends a neighbor who writes pornography. Paired with director Joe Swanberg's 2005 SXSW favorite, Kissing on the Mouth, “…an intimate, humorous, no-holds-barred look at sex and infidelity in post collegiate relationships…,” we should be able to delightfully revisit the mine field happy memories of our own quest to get laid sexual discovery.
You can buy your $15 tickets here with ticket proceeds funding Best Birthday Ever , a short film by Poyser, starring Swanberg and Kelley. The directors will be in attendance at the screening. Raffle ticket included in ticket price for items from the Austin Film Society, Austin Film Festival, SXSW Film Festival and Austin Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.
