Where to Watch the World Cup

cuplogo.jpgThe greatest sporting event in the world begins tomorrow, so it’s time to think about where to watch all of this year’s World Cup games. Contacting a friend with a high definition television is a good idea, as all 64 games will be shown live in HD. If you don’t have HD, not to worry, as all the games will also be shown live on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC. The opening match, between Germany and Costa Rica, is Friday, June 9th at 11:00 am local time.

The most exciting way to catch the action will be at a bar or restaurant, where the atmosphere will be electric. So grab your scarves and flairs and head over to one of the venues below. This list should give you a good start as to where to watch. If you know of any other great places to check out the games, as always, please tell us in the comments section.

Bars showing all 64 games

  • Fado Irish Pub - 214 W. 4th Street, 457-0172
  • Ringers Sports Lounge - 415 Colorado, 495-1558
  • Mother Egans - 715 W. 6th, 479-7218
  • La Mexicana - 1924 S. 1st, 443-6369
  • Casa Brasil - 5213 Evans, 407-9887
  • Café Buenos Aires - 2414 S. 1st, 441-9004

Fado and Ringers should have great soccer crowds and lots of televisions. La Mexicana will be great for Mexico games. Casa Brasil is the place for Brazil games and Café Buenos Aires has great food and all the Argentine action.

Talked with some people from Fado - it will be mobbed. They said to get there by 8am if you want a seat for tomorrow.

"It's all here - fast-kicking, low scoring, and ties? You bet!"

  • I saw where Plucker's was going to be open for the World Cup. I don't know which locations, but for sure, the new one in Round Rock.
