Pride Texas 2006 at Waterloo Park This Saturday

Gay and Lesbian Pride Month continues this weekend with the Texas Pride Festival at Waterloo Park. The annual outdoor celebration brings together a bevy of artists, performers, local merchants and restaurants for an all-day celebration. The schedule of bands appears below:

The festival is part of several events being put on this month by Equality Texas and The Equality Texas Foundation, and are intended to "commemorate the movement for equality for ... LGBT people as a result of the June 1969 Stonewall riots." Saturday's family-friendly/community-oriented event is expected to draw over 7,000 folks from the across the state of Texas; much of the $7 admission fee will go towards Equality Texas' goal of raising over $1 million to fund various anti-discrimination efforts. They're also still looking for volunteers.

After that, head over to The Pride Dance: Fandango 2006, ALLGO's all-out dance party at Victory Grill. Rainbow DJ will be spinning everything from R&B and hip-hop to salsa, tejano and merengue. Tickets are $5 at the door.
