Texas Products go Early and Often in MLB Draft
Texas may be out of the College World Series a little early this year, but junior outfielder Drew Stubbs has about a million reasons to celebrate. The Cincinnati Reds selected the three-year starter with the eighth selection in the first round of the MLB draft. The All-American centerfielder leaves having played the second-most number of games in Horns' history. Congrats, Drew.
In other Texas-related draft news, Longhorn pitcher Kyle McCulloch was taken by the World Champion (still makes us sick to say that) Chicago White Sox with the 29th pick. Kyle Drabek (check out video package on the young pitcher), son of former Longhorn great and permed-mullett legend Doug Drabek, was drafted out of the Woodlands High School by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 18th pick. Word on the street is Drabek would have gone in the top 5 of the draft but for some serious concerns among teams that he has attitude problems and a temper both on and off the field. He should probably fit in very well in Philadelphia.
