Kinky Lays Out His Platform. Opponents Yawn.

For those who think Kinky Friedman is not serious about changing the face of politics as we know it in Texas, he's got news for you. His ideas about taking back government for the people and marginalizing special interest groups have taken form in his recently expressed platform. Some of his main ideas for "taking Texas back to its independent roots," include the following:
- publicly-financed political campaigns
- a two-year lobbying ban for state officeholders and employees after they stop working for the state and
- giving residents the right to push an idea onto a statewide ballot
The Jewish cowboy promises more ideas regarding immigration and renewable energy in the months to come.
Opponents scoffed at Friedman's ideas, with Strayhorn suggesting she has already proposed similar ideas regarding public involvement and Perry's camp dismissing Friedman out-of-hand.
"After spending months going around the state cracking one-liners, selling books and bobble-head dolls, the fact that Kinky Friedman now expects Texans to take him seriously may be the biggest joke of all," said Robert Black, a spokesman for Gov. Rick Perry.
Chris Bell's spokesman, Jason Stanford, said that if Friedman cared so much about affecting change in the system, he could start by voting.
Oh, no he didint.
