It’s summer, it’s hot. No one is in a good mood. Then, on the horizon, it shows its beautiful ears. It’s double sweet corn at Central Market. Buy it now, while you still can. A tip: soak it in its own husk for about an hour before grilling to infuse it with a grassy flavor on top of its already sweet brilliance. If a nerdy love for delicious vegetables replacing nights of debauchery is the hallmark of old age, then bring on the Geritol.
Tip #2: You’ve seen them, you may have walked by them without stopping to rip one out of its package to try it, but the Nature Sweet people with the annoying talking tomato commercials have put out a corporate grape tomato we’re not afraid to admit we love. They’re called Cherubs, and, no, Nature Sweet isn't paying us. These tomatoes are seriously little conversation pieces. We’re not sure what they did right, but these little boogers will make you do the Rerun dance. Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it!
We’re hesistant to say it, but we must: when it comes to the Ataulfo variety, everybody loves mango! Available at Central Market, their flavor is complex, and we’re not even going to avoid the cliché: Perfect for Summer!
