  • thanks for the comments, everyone. we do make a mistake or two every now and again (daily), but we're always happy to remedy them when pointed out, time permitting. we just hope these lists are of some help to you guys!

hey rachelle, you can look at deez nutz for free whenever you want, too. i'd even throw in a free beer to boot. but i think you may, oh, i don't know, have your mouth full.

  • Pfft. Free munchies and beer guzzling is just about the only reason I go out now-a-days. Free music is also enticing.

However a "Free Art Show" is about as appealing as getting a "Free Root Canal" or a receiving a "Free Swift Kick to Da' Groin"* . I'll make sure to put down "Shady Tree Studios" on the list of things to avoid in Austin. I'll put that right in between "Genie Car Wash" and "That one place in Red River where all the stabby bums reside."

    *allegedly, in my honest opinion.

Allen takes several hours out of his day (after coming home from an extremely demanding day job) to make this list EVERY FUCKING WEEK and it is compiled almost entirely by scouring the internet for interesting local events. Rachelle, he listed your event because he supports local artists and thought the Austinist readership might enjoy it. I can guarantee you that if you had written him a simple email, the listing would have been corrected within the hour. Allen's a bigger person than most, so there probably WILL be a next time...maybe you should, oh, I don't know, thank him....

  • Seriously. Your post was unnecessarily rude. Nobody was being malicious here but you rachelle. You should be grateful you were even listed.

  • wowwhatabitch

the rest of racheele's comments that she didn't post here

"Are these people illiterate as well as gluttonous?

Austinist opportunists should just die. And stay the hell out of East Austin."

What do you think the people that actually live in east austin think of your snooty ass?

    dear rachelle,

in my experience, allen is always happy to promptly correct the listings if you send him an email (which i have had to do before). maybe you would be more successful if you had a sense of humor about the fact that people in the press/media ALWAYS get things wrong. if you care about it, it's your job to make sure it gets corrected. sure it's frustrating. but now you've just made yourself look like a pompous jerk with a ridiculous sense of entitlement...not the kind of person i would want to help or support. why make unnecessary enemies? how does that help media coverage of the art scene?

  • You incorrectly billed our art opening, Escape Hatch, as a DJ event, which it was not. Shady Tree Studios is an artist studio/gallery space. Mr. Starsign was a visual artist exhibiting in the show. Much as I dig his spinning and his artwork, your listing is way, way off. Maybe you should've tried, oh, I don't know, checking our website first. Please pay more attention next time (if there is one).

And don't go to art openings just to guzzle all the beer and mooch the free munchies. Support artists - buy, or at the very least, actually look at their work. If not, your picture just might end up here: http://www.cantanker.com.

    Sincerely,

    Rachelle

    Escape Hatch curator
