Breaking News: "Reap the Whirlwind, Skilling. Reap It!"

rats2banner.jpg

After 16 weeks of testimony, the jury has come back. And fairly quickly. The Smartest Guys in the Room now know their fates.

Jeff Skilling (28 counts)
Guilty on Conspiracy and all counts of Security Fraud charges. Not guilty on charges 42-51 (insider trading).

Ken Lay (6 counts)
Guilty on Conspiracy and all counts of Security Fraud charges.

Experts think the two men will receive close to 20-25 years for their misdeeds. It is an overwhelming victory for the prosecution who proved the Skilling and Lay lied about the state of Enron's financial affairs and misled investors and the rest of the nation as to the health of their company. Since investors will probably never get their money back, we suggest allowing defrauded investors the opportunity to go watch Lay and Skilling get mistreated behind bars. Ironically (considering Skilling used the day of our nation's greatest tragedy to make excuses for trades he may not have remembered), the punishment will be handed down on September 11th. This probably means Ken Lay will spend the rest of his life in prison, as may super-machismo Jeff Skilling. As Skilling left the courthouse steps, a man standing nearby yelled, "Don't drop the soap, Skilling." Booyea!

Skilling, leaving the courthouse was asked if he would ever admit that he committed crimes at Enron, and he said, "No, because I didn't."

M'kay.

And don't worry, folks. There is no parole in the federal system.

Huzaah! Huzaah!

  • And Bush did what exactly to help California during the summer of 2000 when rolling blackouts were all the rage and Enron was bankrupting grandmothers (their words).

Yeah, the 90s were "dark days" when politics didn't trump scientific findings, there was a budget surplus, and critical thinking was considered a good thing.

I don't remember Clinton being convicted of anything, so he can't be a sex offender. So what's worse Stozzel, lying b/c you can't keep it in your pants or lying b/c you don't like somebody and those lies lead to the deaths of thousands of people?

I'm really glad Bush got Bin Laden like he said he would... oh yeah, he hasn't.

Three cheers for the Bush Justice Department that put an end to the corporate malfeasance that these guys were perpetrating during the dark days of the Clinton administration. Bush may have called him "Kenny Boy", but he at least prosecuted and convicted him, while Kenny raped his employees' 401Ks under the neglectful eye of sex offender Bill.

Hope hillary doesn't get elected and we return to the unprosecuted corporate corruption prevalent during the days of indisputably higher unemployment than modern times.

My favorite part of the trial was during cross examination when Ken Lay said that his lifestyle was expensive and it was justified that he rent a yacht for $200,000 for his wife's birthday while he knew that the company was going down the tubes.

they won't be gazzionaires, and most likely will be coming out of there in pine boxes

It's about damn time. But they'll still be gazillionaires when they get out of jail.

  • screwem

wow. i'm confused as to why this made my whole day.

here's hoping the enron employees that got their retirements eliminated by these unscrupulous a**holes at least have money for a couple of Coors to toast this victory.

i'm hoping they can tap whatever off-shore squirrel holes these guys stashed their money in and give something back to the employees. public shareholders will prolly just have to eat it.

    karma works!
