As we reported several months ago, one of our most favorite local starlets, Helen Merino, had to pull out of Zach Scott's Bad Dates due to an unfortunate encounter with a pothole. We were excited to learn today that Merino will return to the role for a three week holdover.
Don't get us wrong. We love Jill Blackwood, too, and her run received a rave review from the Chronicle. But we felt terrible for Merino, and were even sadder when we read Michael Barnes' praise of her one-and-only performance.
Now we will fret no more! The show was originally slotted to close last weekend, but is now continuing thru May 28, on Th/Fr/Sa at 8pm and Su at 2:30pm. Merino returns this Thursday and will be in all shows through closing. Tickets bought in advance are $28-$37 (call 476-0541 x1, or buy online), but here's something we just learned: "$15 – Student rush tickets at all shows starting one hour prior to curtain."
And Helen, sweetie, we'd tell ya to break a leg but....

Hey y'all,
Thanks for advertising Helen's return! This was a terrific (and frightening) learning experience for me and I had a great run, but I too am so thrilled that Helen is back in action! I encourage all of you theatre folks to get out and see the production if you can and show her some love!
