Chickens and Piggys and Cows, Oh My!

Because everything’s bigger in Texas, including our appetites, we’ll be showing up at the Second Annual Texas Culinary Academy BBQ Cook-off this weekend.

With more than 25 teams in beef brisket, pork ribs and whole chicken categories, the suggested $10 donation for all-you-can-eat plates sounds like a total steal. The competition will showcase the work of student teams, as well as teams consisting of local grill sargeants. The judges panel will include representatives from Austin’s famed County Line Restaurant. Chicken will be judged from 10am-1pm, pork ribs from 11am-2pm, and beef from noon-3pm.

Teams will start cooking as early as Friday night to showcase their skills on Saturday.

TCA Chef Jennifer Gayton tells us to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets and enjoy live music and delicious food. We also hear rumors of Oak Farms Ice Cream Sammiches.
