Austinist Ticket Giveaway: Special Screening and Live Performance by Daniel Johnston

devil resized.jpgThe Devil and Daniel Johnston directed by Jeff Feuerzeig has been receiving a ton of buzz, and for good reason. The film tells the heartfelt and compelling story of one of Austin's most famous musical icons. It is a portrait of the artist as a troubled man, a movie that confronts the painful issues of mental illness and its effects on not just the artist in question but all with whom he comes in contact. Ultimately, it becomes a story about the triumph of the human spirit, Johnston's and his friends and family, in the face of devastating odds.

The film, for which Feuerzeig won best director honors at Sundance in 2005, opens today in Austin at the Regal Arbor and Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. As part of a very special promotion, everyone who sees the film between today and May 10th can register to be entered into a drawing to win tickets to the May 11th screening where, following the film, Daniel Johnston will be performing a live set. This is a very rare treat to see a living legend. So get thee to the Alamo over the next five days to enjoy this wonderful film and to enter the raffle, cause that's the only way you're getting in to the performance on the 11th.

Well, almost the only way...thanks to our good friends over at the Alamo, we, too, are giving away a pair of tickets to the screening and concert on the 11th. Enter your information in the space provided for a chance to win these highly-sought after tickets.
