Austinist Giveaway: Scott Walker Import Vinyl, Screening Next Monday
Idiosyncratic American ex-pat Scott Walker's musical career spans over half a century long, from his early years as a pop star in LA's The Walker Brothers to his extensive solo recordings (albums one through four named Scott (1967), Scott 2 (1968), Scott 3 (1969), and Scott 4 (1969)). Having signed to Beggars Banquet-funded British indie label 4AD (Blonde Redhead, TVoR, Mountain Goats, The Birthday Party) in 2004, the cult figure has enjoyed a resurgence of interest lately -- his first new album in over a decade, The Drift, comes out next week, and a full-length documentary film, Scott Walker: 30 Century Man, is slated to release sometime in the coming weeks.
Next Monday at the Drafthouse Downtown, the self-described "huge Scott Walker geeks" at End of an Ear are hosting a special screening of vintage Scott Walker videos and exclusive, unseen footage from 30 Century Man. Afterwards, they'll be selling copies of the new album.
"One of the first artists I've seen to you use a slab of pork as percussion - then say 'it is a wee bit too musical'" -- Dan, EoAR
In conjunction with the screening and album release, End of an Ear has offered Austinist a super deluxe, UK-only double LP vinyl that we're giving away to a lucky reader! Check out the video above (from a recent BBC show on Walker), fill out the form below, and be sure to make it out to the Drafthouse next week.
