Sgt. Eeyore's Lonely Hearts Club Blast

eeyore-1jpg.jpg

Yes kiddies, it's time once again for the annual Eeyore's Birthday Party. What Lloyd Birdwell started as a small picnic for students at the University of Texas has today swelled to a major annual festival with live bands; food vendors; adult beverages; games and whatnot, such as egg tossing and costume contests. This fictional birthday party for our favorite depressed donkey is not about recreational drug use or the "hippie" subculture, it's about the community coming together and experiencing a glimmer of hope in an otherwise dark time…that and a bunch of "hippies" spacing out in the park.

You aren't allowed to bring cans, coolers or bottles to the park, but there will be plenty of stuff to buy there, with proceeds benefiting several local non-profits. Dogs are allowed but must stay on their leashes. Click through the links to find out information about parking and shuttle buses.

Eeyore's Birthday

Glory days like when SXSW was $18 a wristband and you could carry a drink from bar to bar on 6th.

Ah, does anyone remember when Eeyore's used to be fun and free - somehow paying $5 for a beer makes me want to be as depressed as the namesake himself.

I was just contacted by Apple Core, Inc. and they requested I remove the parody from the post or else suffer the soft pillow torture.
