Purple Haze: Entertainment News Bits (& Rumors)

You may have heard that a certain filmmaker is in town for his own personal film fest. Well, he's also making national news, as Quentin Tarantino has reportedly agreed to come on board to direct the new biopic chronicling the life and times of Jimi Hendrix. The film, which has been stalled in development deals for what seems to be ages, has the approval of Hendrix's brother Leon and Jimi's estate.
In ACL News Rumors, don't expect Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan or Radiohead, but former Phish frontman Trey Anastasio is opening on Tom Petty's tour this summer, so you can probably expect him to be at ACL again. Also...after courting the Dave Matthews Band heavily last year and coming up just-short, we expect CSE to get DMB - which has a hole in their schedule between their September 13th show in Denver and their September 22nd show in Charlottesville, VA - on board as part of this year's lineup, probably Saturday headliner. But we don't really know.
Update: We just found out (via their site) that DMB has just announced a show for September 15th in Chicago. So, unless they do some seriously fast moving, the ACL Rumor may be just that. A rumor. We are not sure if he is playing a free show in The Windy City to make up for last year's feces fiasco or what, or if this had been in the works. So all of you DMB-haters, you might not want to burn those ACL tickets just yet.
Who should play Jimi? Terrence Howard? Mos Def? Chiwetel Ejiofor? Philip Seymour Hoffman?
Care?
