Austin's Job Market To Increase Almost 25% In Ten Years

Austin Business Journal reported today that, according to rankings published in the latest issue of Business 2.0, Austin comes out in fourth place in terms of projected job growth, among major cities with a population of over 1 million.

Their findings, culled from government-collected data and the findings of international research company Global Insight Inc., further predict an astounding 24.7 percent growth in our local job market for the next decade.

What's to account for this unprecedented development? Several large tech companies are expected to add additional design and manufacturing centers in and around Austin over the next few years -- several of the high profile firms include Samsung and Toyota, whose new factory in San Antonio will account for thousands of new jobs alone.

The breakdown, in projected job growth:

1. Las Vegas (35.5%)
2. Orlando (28.3%)
3. Riverside (26.7%)
4. Austin (24.7%)
5. Phoenix (24.3%)
6. Jacksonville (20.8%)
7. Tampa (19.7%)
8. Dallas/Ft Worth (19.4%)
9. Charlotte (19%)
10. Atlanta (18.8%)
