Laying the Smack Slam Down

poetryslam.jpg

Adding to the flood of entertainment options available this Saturday, some of Austin's most popular slam poets will be facing off to figure out who gets to represent our fair city at the National Poetry Slam this summer. On the bill for the event are Tony Jackson, Krissi Reeves, Big Poppa E, Zell Miller III, Erin Livingston, Christopher Lee, Genevieve Van Cleve, Da'Shade Moonbeam, Christopher Michael, Shannon Leigh, Andy Buck, and Ohio Jake -- no, we do not know exactly how many of these people made up their names, though you're welcome to guess.

The Austin Slam Off will be taking place at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre. Tickets, available at the theater, will only set you back $12, which is roughly equitable to the cost of that new Saves the Day album. And, trust us, you're better off without it.

For further information, check out the Austin Slam's web site.
