Lakeside Living

95534504_1132047979.jpg

Lakeway and the remainder of the shores of Lake Travis are quickly becoming suburbanized. Thought we'd mention it in case you haven't been out in a while.

If lakeside living is on the menu, we prefer the long suburbanized shores of Lake Austin, although seeing The Pier closed and ready to be torn down to make room for condos had us shedding a silent tear as we sped past in a friend's boat this weekend. Luckily, the combination of wind and sun quickly turned that tear into a salty encrustation, which was later licked off by the 150 pound Newfoundland puppy cooling out on the back of our friend's friend's boat.

Truth be told, our choice for lakeside living is the urbanized shore of Town Lake. A friend's boat is the only kind of boat we'll ever need.

Don't fret about the Pier, a restaurant will be going into that spot along with updated boat docks and better parking. Condos aren't a part of that area at all. A piece of land further up the road will add some homes to the area, but the area around the pier will remain commercial only. Nothing is open this year as everything is still going through the approval and design process, and if all goes smoothly, the area will be better than ever in 2007. While it is sad that the Pier is gone, at least you won't have to pee while standing in a puddle of urine, while eating a mediocre overpriced burger. Besides if you still wanted to do that you could just head over to Ski Shores.
