Cine Las Americas Film Festival: En La Cama

*This review comes from new Austinist contributor Rebecca Onion.*
As our mother told us, never turn down the chance to see a movie titled "In Bed." In other words: Yes, you perv, there is sex in this film. Two strangers who meet at a party are so hot for each other that they decide to rent a tastefully decorated red motel room. (There’s some talk about how nasty the place is, but we’d take it over Days Inn on I-35 any day.) There, they proceed to get it on, talk about movies, take baths, get it on, lipsync to pop music, do headstands, get it on, have pillow fights, have real fights, and tell each other carefully selected bits and pieces of their life stories.
Both actors are—as seems, from our admittedly limited sample size, to be a trend in movies set in Chile—ravishing, but the sex really isn’t what’s most important, we swear. It’s the talking parts that did it for us. As the two move back and forth across the line between intimacy and distance, you’re tugged back and forth with them. This movie is a chance to experience all of the interesting emotional play of a hot one-night stand, without the fear of social disease hanging over your head.
En La Cama screens tonight at the Cine Las Americas film festival @ 10pm.
