Settle In And Stay A While

The Old Settler’s Music Festival sure has a line up. Why, they have more roots music than you could shake a roots-music-shaking stick at. This weekend marks the 19th year for the event, held at the Salt Lick BBQ Pavillion right out in Driftwood.

The line up includes Keller Williams, Kinky Friedman, Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez, Terri Hendrix, Todd Snyder, the Lonestar Bluegrass Band and a heap of other talented folks. They’re additionally advertising “wholesome food,” a Sunday gospel show, as well as performance workshops.

Tickets are available right now from the festival’s web site, and the whole shebang starts Thursday, April 20 and runs through Sunday, April 23. Optional camping is available at Camp Ben McCulloch. Personally, we’ll avoid the camping, being a bit enamored of “running water” and “air conditioning,” but we readily acknowledge that it takes all kinds.
