It's just been announced that President Clinton is coming back to Austin. He's scheduled to deliver the convocation address at UT's LBJ School of Public Affairs on May 20. UT President William Powers had this much to say:
"The LBJ School was formed as an expression of President Johnson's faith in government to serve democracy by building a more just society. It is fitting that this year's convocation speaker at the LBJ School is a public servant who has dedicated his life to social justice through his tireless efforts in the area of civil rights, education, health care and world peace. I look forward to welcoming President Clinton to our campus."
Our 42nd President has been busy promoting the new Earned Income Tax Credit around the states, last month meeting with survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Later this year he'll be heading the 2006 Clinton Global Initiative, a "non-partisan catalyst" for addressing some of the world's biggest challenges, in New York City. Already slated to attend are Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, First Lady Laura Bush, Jacques Chirac, Rupert "MySpace" Murdoch" and many more important people we'll never meet.
We're not sure yet whether the School of Public Affairs will distributing tickets to the public, but we'll let you know as soon as we find out!
