Holy Mexican Wrestlers! The Alamo Premieres Nacho Libre With A Smackdown

Nacho Final.jpg

This is simply too good to be true, but it is true.

On Saturday, May 27th, the Alamo Drafthouse is holding the Texas premiere of Nacho Libre, a new comedy from writer/director Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) and writer Mike White (School Of Rock). The film stars Jack Black as a Mexican friar who dons a secret identity as a "Lucha Libre" wrestler to help save his church. View the preview here. Be warned that Jack Black is frequently topless and has a huge mustache. Nice.

So here's the story: the premiere will not only happen outdoors at The Glenn (the new stage at the Backyard), it will also feature a Mexican food feast and LIVE Lucha Libre Wrestling! Yes, there will be masks and tights galore. Actors from the film will also conduct a Q&A session and introduce the film. The Alamo's program guide also promises free admission to anyone wearing a wrestling mask! Austinist hopes Strongbad will stop by to take advantage of this.

Tickets on sale NOW for $6 at Rollingroadshow.com. Don't sleep on this.
