What's Your Lucky Number? This Week's New Movie Releases!

A few highlights from this week's new movie releases: Bruce Willis is back! And he shoots guns this time! David Spade plays a nerd, just to mix things up! If the South had won the Civil War, would Toby Keith be campaigning for governor (oh God, we just vomited)? Film noir is great for teens! And Antonio Banderas teaches the youth of America that ballroom dancing can get you plenty of play!
Lucky Number Slevin
Clever movie title, or speech impediment? Only Morgan Freeman knows for sure. Because he knows everything.
*Game 6
It’s DeLillo, so pop a Xanax before you see this one.
Phat Girlz
That's phat with a P-H, sucka.
*CSA: Confederate States of America
A mockumentary that ponders how the U.S. would be if the South had won the Civil War. Can you IMAGINE? Some inarticulate, backwards doofus might be president! Big ol’ gas guzzlin’ trucks would be all the rage! Neverending, super-expensive wars based on falsehoods could be a way of life! Whew, lucky for us, huh?
The Benchwarmers
It pains us to see Jon Heder reprise the role of Napoleon Dynamite in everything he does. It also pains us to see Rob Schneider. In anything.
*Brick
Film noir meets teen drama. Yeah, really. And it works. Check our site next week for an interview with the director!
Take the Lead
Oh, Antonio, you’re just so Latin! Is it us, or does his accent keep getting thicker as time goes by?
*Room
We like to imagine that if a magical room exists somewhere out there just for us, it contains 53 flavors of gelato. And 400 count Egyptian cotton sheets. And Christian Bale.
*Austinist recommends. We also recommend these first runs: Chronicles of Narnia, Dave Chappelle's Block Party, Inside Man, Thank You for Smoking, V for Vendetta
