Yet another exciting food event is upon us this weekend: the Comida Alegre 2006 will be taking place downtown this Sunday. It's a Best-of-Austin food competition featuring one of our favorite cruisines, Mexican Food, and includes many of Austin's best restaurants. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample a variety of their menu offerings and decide who reigns supreme in several categories, such as best Fajitas, Enchiladas, Salsa, and Margaritas. To spice up the Mexican flavor of the afternoon, there will also be Salsa dance lessons and demonstrations. The event will also have music on two stages, featuring many local latino bands including Los Palominos and David Garza. If you're in the mood to try some of Austin's great Mexican food while listening to a great line-up (and for free), then head on down.

Just a head's up since the intinerary posted on here is different: Maneja Beto's website says they'll be on stage at 3:10...sharp. So if that's who you're going to see perhaps a double check is in order.
Where did the idea ever come from that Los Palominos or David Lee Garza y los musicales are local? They aren't. They are Texan and they are internationally known tejano stars but they're not local. Unless Uvalde or Poteet are considered to be almost-Austin???????????
Have you ever heard 'Sorry' of Madona ... hot song.
