San Marcos May Get Their Own Riverwalk

San Marcos is being courted by a group of developers from Arizona who want to create a "Riverwalk" area in the town (their site has one of the more Web 1.0 designs we've seen lately). The Statesman mentions that an Alamo Drafthouse is being included alongside plans for condos, shops, hotels and an outdoor amphitheater. The patch of land owned by the group is between the Blanco River and IH35.

This could be good, and bad, for the town of San Marcos. An Alamo would be great for the town, and creating condos near shops would encourage a more pedestrian community (right?). However, we have a feeling that this ambitous plan will create more traffic on IH35, which isn't so great.

The San Marcos planning commission will consider the plans for the Blanco Riverwalk project later this month.
