Swamp Romp & Crawfish Festival

crawfish.jpg

As our Texas spring starts to kick into gear, we're realizing that it's time yet again for Cajun food and music. Luckily, the annual Swamp Romp & Crawfish Festival, which features the best in authentic Louisiana cuisine (6 tons of jumbo crawfish) and much more, is just around the corner. Bring your appetite, as they'll be serving fresh boiled crawfish, jambalaya, crab cakes, fried alligator, shrimp po-boys, barbecued boudin, etouffee, red beans & rice, shrimp and alligator on a stick, gumbo and frog legs, fried catfish, and fried Cajun turkey legs. Whew, we feel full just listing the menu.

In addition to the feast, there will be plenty of great entertainment: dancers, juju mames, a traditional funeral procession with lots of beads and tokens, and Cajun & Zydeco music performances by local and national groups. Performers on this year's roster include Cowboy Mouth, Blue Runners, Vallejo, and Rebirth Brass Band.
