haha, I've always thought they sounded like "The End." And I agree about the Vietnam lyrics, but A) you can't be so sure about the drugs and B) some of their songs aren't about either of those subjects. Whether or not they'll sell or be the "saviors of anytihng," I have no idea I couldn't really care less. I agree with most of what you said. I'm just more into watching music being performed at a high level than being jaded and analyzing it. There are a number of Austin bands kicking ass at home AND touring (I hope you were really trying with that one; I think we're pretty damn lucky). This band is one of the best we have. and yeah, I'm sure no one will read this 2 days later anyhow

Hmmm-- The Black Angels only sound like The Doors song "The End". The rest of their music sounds like Jefferson Airplane's dark(er) material and/or Brian Jonestown Massacre. With lyrics about the Vietnam war and/or drugs, which last I heard, none of the band members had any experience with (vietnam OR the good kind of drugs). I commend them for doing something that no other *local Austin* band is doing right now AND for going out and touring (instead of sitting in Austin like every other band). But, let's remember that Jesus & The Mary Chain didn't sell. Brian Jonestown Massacre didn't sell. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club didn't sell. Let's not annoint The Black Angels savoirs of anything quite yet.

The Black Angels - Passover and Voxtrot's latest 15-minute offering gotta rep for the locs, y'all seriously, The Black Angels are getting better by the week. And I can't imagine there being that much more room left for improvement...

This is an awesome entry. It's awesome to see all the releases in one place and have people get to discuss the albums. The new Yeah Yeah's album is awesome. I was a little concerned that it wouldn't be as good. while some have reported it's much more mellow I think it still has the intensity. Love it!

i was hoping that boy least likely to would never release their album in america and i would get to keep them for myself. (they almost replace the gone-to-pop belle and sebastian with their sympathetically ironic happy songs about sad things.) but maybe if everyone buys this album, they'll tour the us and come to austin. (well, again. i missed them at sxsw.) just remember, i liked them first.

I saw Boy Least Likely To at the Diesel after party and again at Club Deville (before Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah). They were awesome and I haven't been able to get that song out of my head since!
