Scion xPress Fest Screening Tour Tomorrow Night: The Arm, DJ Ian Orth, and Free Booze!
The Scion xPress Fest Screening Tour started off as a chance for filmmakers around the country to each partner up with an independent band and create a music video. From the hundreds of submissions they received, they chose a mere ten, representing cities such as Orange County (CA), Savannah (GA), New York (NY), Iowa City (IA), and, yep, Austin.
In our city, The Arm and UT student filmmaker Lawrence Johnson were paired up (we're not sure exactly who chose whom) and ultimately selected as one of the finalists. Tomorrow, they'll be representing Central Texas when the Scion xPress Fest stops over at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown.
Expect DJ sets by Austinist buddy and Thursday-night-Whisky-Bar-badass Ian Orth, a "limited hosted bar," and the world premiere of the first-ever Arm video. What's more, audience members are asked to participate in a vote to determine which band-filmmaker team gets to take home a grand prize of $20k. Not too shabby.
