Starting tonight, and running this week only, sexy, socially-conscious performance artist Annie Sprinkle and her partner, experimental artist / professor (is that a great combo or what?) Elizabeth Stephens, are staging the US premiere of their current work, Exposed: Experiments in Love, Sex, Death, Art, at the Vortex. We're bringing it to your attention yet again because this show will sell out fast, and it's a unique opportunity to see a new work by these fantastic women. We've seen Annie's shows in the past; she connects with her audience in a way we've never experienced before or since. She's guaranteed to bring you a fun, thought-provoking, and one-of-a-kind evening at the theatre.
Described as "an artistic response to the proposed anti-gay marriage amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as well as to the recent passage of similar discriminatory legislation in Texas, Exposed is a love story that encompasses the couple’s adventures with artificial insemination and breast cancer. Annie and Beth invite you to come to The VORTEX and become a part of a genuine celebration of the deepest realms of romantic, sexual, and familial love, in order to bring about positive social change and acceptance."
In addition to the theatre piece, Vortex is sponsoring the following events this week:
- Free Sidewalk Sex Clinic at Forbidden Fruit on North Loop - Wednesday, March 29, from 12-2. Come by and visit Annie and Beth and other sex experts to get free advice on your sex life.
- Lecture at the Department of Theatre and Dance with Annie and Beth - Friday, March 31 from 2-3, in WIN 2.112. All are welcome. Free.
- Cuddle—an interactive performance event - Saturday, April 1 from 1-3 at The Vortex. For only $10 you can get a personal Cuddle in bed with Annie and Beth. Experience the power of love and touch. Sign up begins at 12:30 at The Vortex.
