Wet, Hot Austin Spring

Looks like a week's worth of rain is heading our way. This shot is from the last time thunderstorms came through the area. We got stuck in the middle of it while driving home. Fortunately for us, we had out camera with us.

We took the picture by pressing the camera flush against the inside of the window, in order to minimize the glare of the flash. Then we used the manual focus setting to set the focal length to a few centimeters in front of the camera, and snapped away. That was that. A couple more via the Expand-o-Tron.

The pictures are awesome.

Anybody know what this means regarding the burn ban? That thing's been going on forever, it seems like, and I have a serious hankering to burn some stuff in an outdoor setting.

From News 8:

Nine fire departments battled a 50-acre grass fire south of Manor on FM 973, near Walter E. Long Lake on Saturday.

STARFlight was also called in for water drops and crews spent about an hour getting the fire under control.

No buildings or homes were damaged and no one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Travis County lifted its burn ban earlier this week.

That's some flaming irony there.
