Meeting People Is Easy: Austin Newcomers Happy Hour, Volume 1

Happy Hour.jpg

Are you new to Austin? Are you missing your bar in New York/Boston/Seattle or wherever you came from? Pining for a happy hour with your drinking buddies? If you're nodding with a wistful sort of look, we may be able to help.

Austin Newcomers is beginning a monthly happy hour designed to help connect people 25-35 who are new to Austin. There's not a formal organization, it's just an excuse to drink good beer and meet people interested in film, food, wine, sports, music, and Austin culture. The flyer we have states: "Singles and couples are welcome, and you only need pay for your bar tab. Figuring out a new city is more fun with others!" Natch.

This is the inaugural happy hour, so we recommend that you get to Opal Divine's Tuesday to kickstart this new tradition. Austinist gets letters all the time asking where to meet new friends, and we'd say this is a good place to begin.

Austinist suggests:
Austin Newcomers, Volume 1
Opal Divine's Penn Field
3601 South Congress Avenue (just South of Oltorf)
Tuesday, March 28th - 6 to 8pm

Call (512) 636-0672 with questions, email austinnewbies@gmail.com for monthly mailing list

This sounds like a great idea! We are not in Austin yet, but we just bought a to-be-built in South Austin and we'll be moving to your great city around October. So we hope to attend Austin Newcomers Volume 7 or 8.
