Audio Austinist: Technology Meets Politics At SXSWi

ctg_book.jpg[Austinist is thrilled to present you with the first installment in our new, ongoing podcast series, Audio Austinist. For this inaugural edition, podcast editor Kristina Barnett focuses on the 2006 SXSW Interactive Festival, during which she interviewed two of America's most prominent political bloggers, Jerome Armstrong (MyDD) and Markos Moulitsas (DailyKos). Check it out below, and send us your feedback! In the coming months, we'll be covering a host of issues pertaining to Austinites -- if you have a suggestion for a future podcast, feel free to send it our way; we promise we'll consider it. The following is editorial content by contributor Kristina Barnett and does not necessarily reflect the views of the Austinist staff. --The Editors]

markos.jpgTwo of the most well-known and influential political bloggers in America, Jerome Armstrong of MyDD.com and Markos Moulitsas of The Daily Kos, attended SXSWi to kick off a tour to promote their new book Crashing The Gate. The book is a scathing look at how the Republican party has failed Americans and how, in turn, the Democratic party has failed to step up to the plate in our defense.

Rather than leaving readers feeling hopeless and lost in the echo chamber that's often created by too many people sitting around agreeing that the world's a mess, Markos and Jerome take it one step further. The book is a message about what's next - how Democrats can cope with the political, techinical and financial realities of today.

jerome.jpgJerome was also here to recruit the best and brightest at SXSWi to help out with former Viriginia governer Mark Warner's political action committee Forward Together. This PAC pretty much stands alone in it's committment to innovation and "tech inspired change".

In Austinist's premier podcast, Markos and Jerome tell us about the book, the PAC and why it's all relevant at a technology conference.
