It's a Theatre-Party Weekend

Even though St. Genesius doesn't celebrate his feastday until August, it seems the Theatre Party stars must be in alignment or something because this weekend brings you not one, not two, but four -- you heard us -- four theatre party-benefit thingees. All from companies we love, so if you want to rub shoulders with some delightful, talented people, check out any of the following!
Friday, 3/24
- Rob Nash's Birthday Benefit for the Vortex. This is being billed as "the first of many 39th birthdays" for the smashing Rob Nash. (If you've never seen a Rob Nash show, shame on you! He's amazing.) This benefit is to raise money for A/C in the spiffed up Vortex lobby. Which has a full bar now. As we might have maybe mentioned once or twice in the past.
8-10pm / Rain at 217 B W 4th St / 494.1150 / NO COVER, DONATIONS ONLY - A Springtime House Party to Benefit Rude Mechs. You're invited to join hosts Mark Holzbach, Marla Camp, and Ellen Spiro in this benefit for the Rudes. "Delectible food and live music by La Strada, along with appearances from your favorite Rudes, will make this an evening to remember."
8pm / 305 East Live Oak Street / 441.3971 or camp(@)impactpro.com / SUGGESTED DONATION of $20 or give what you can - Opening Night of The Glory of Living, celebrating Ken Webster's 25 years of producing theatre in Austin. Sheesh, that's a mouthful. Hyde Park Theatre usually kicks off their opening weekends with an event of some sort, but this time they're also marking Ken's award-winning history as an actor, director, producer, and much more. Should be fun!
8pm / Hyde Park Theatre at 511 West 43rd St / 479.PLAY / $17
Saturday, 3/25
- Halloween in March with the Coda Project. Billed as "the ultimate in fabulous, costumed keggers," this shindig encourages you to join the Coda folks for beer, wine, food, & fun. Costumes not required. Benefits Coda Project's production of 9x9x9, a new play by Randy Wyatt that's opening at play! Theatre next month.
8pm-2am / play! Theatre at 1204 Cedar Ave / DanielBrock(@)austin.rr.com / SUGGESTED DONATION of $4.00 at the door
