Art Outside reinvents the art show by adding new frequencies to the art spectrum and placing them outside the contemporary gallery "box" so the art can be experienced, not simply viewed. This show features sculptures, installations, paintings, performances, and other works incapable of being categorized that escape the confines of the mainstream art world's "classist" niche and appeal to a broader audience. Art Outside is truly an art show for the masses. The canvas for this collaborative artistic experiment is the Enchanted Forest, three acres of wooded bliss at the side of Bouldin Creek in the heart of South Austin. By combining an eclectic array of artists and media with nontraditional viewers of art and placing them in a unique and unsettling location, Art Outside transforms all who participate. Ambitious artistic endeavors placed in a natural setting electrify the mind, sparking new associations and ideas that cannot be conceived at any other art show. The festival brings to Austin a multitude of painters, sculptors, musicians, fire artists, performers, and creators of other worlds from all over the country and the great state of Texas.
