Film Bits: Kevin Smith Rocks The Party Monday, And SXSW Previews On BitTorrent

While we all know and love the eclecticism of the Alamo Drafthouse, sometimes we feel there is literally no rhyme or reason to a particular event. Not that this is a bad thing: they just keep us guessing, that's all. Case in point: Kevin Smith (writer/director of Clerks and Chasing Amy) is hosting a midnight screening of the Kid-N-Play movie House Party tomorrow night. We haven't a clue as to why, other than that Smith is in town lecturing at UT's film school. If you are a Silent Bob fan, or just love silly teenager movies and PG-rated rap, reserve your seats here. Admission is free, but reserved tickets require purchase of a $10 food/drink voucher.

In other Kevin Smith news, apparently the pride of New Jersey's next project is Clerks 2. Seriously? Seriously. Head here for a preview, and a clip of reactions from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez after viewing a rough cut of the film.

And finally, for those hungry for SXSW Film to begin, a BitTorrent with 70+ SXSW previews for you to download is available at the SXSW site.

No, it was just open to UT students. First they gave out passes to the RTF majors and then they had about 40 left. They emailed the Communication majors saying that they would be giving them out at a certain time for all UT students. Not many people know it's happening.

Anyone know if his film school talk is open to the public? One assumes not but am curious.
