HP Wants to Come to Austin

Hewlett-Packard is strongly considering a move to Austin, and our city council wants to sweeten the deal. Thursday they will vote on a sizeable ($3.2 million) tax incentive to thank HP for choosing Austin. The proposed HP data center could create about 140 jobs, and the plan is for them to take over what used to be the Freescale building (where we took our donations for the hurricane evacuees). They are also looking into buying some property in the Wells Branch area for a second site.
