Patterns
by Jamie Travis (Vancouver) - Toronto Film Festival, Slamdance
Gorgeous, mod-inspired production design situates a woman's recurring nightmare in a stylish world of indeterminate time, place and consciousness. A melodramatic satire of the horror genre, Patterns makes surprising use of stop-motion techniques to build a sense of unease, using regimentation and repetition as its unlikely tools of terror.Dear Julia
by Alistair Banks Griffin (Rhode Island) - New York Film Festival
Boyd Soloman believes he can fly and is eight floors above a street intending to prove it. Based on the highly acclaimed graphic novel by Brian Biggs, Dear Julia, is the story of how he got there. The Futurist
by Brad Winderbaum (LA) - Los Angeles Film Festival, Queens Film Festival, Santa Fe Film Festival
Charles Guthrie is suicidal, but whenever he tries to take his own life, fate steps in the way, thwarting his every attempt. A chain of events will take him headlong into a web of mystery, and a fated meeting with the superhero known only as The Futurist.Les Skateurs
by Mirko Martin (Germany) - Cinematexas
In this honest and intimate documentary, Moroccan skateboarders speak their mind about music, suicide, alcohol, poverty, and Europe. At times resembling portraiture, the film reveals the skaters self-consciousness before the camera and offers a brief glimpse into their personal lives and thoughts.
