Mush! This Week's New Movie Releases

This week at the movies there’s a little bit of everything. You got your Disney, your international, your race relations, and your Other. And by Other, we mean crap.
Eight Below
Man, Disney just keeps trudging along. Stories about cute animals overcoming immeasurable odds always work. Do what you know. Be sure to hire Paul Walker, because apparently he’ll take anything.
*Cache
A French mystery-thriller with political overtones about a man who receives anonymous packages containing surveillance tapes of himself and his family. Mon dieu, le mystere! We’ll be the ones in the theatre wearing black turtlenecks and smoking expensive cigarettes.
*Ballet Russes
A rather amazing collection of early 20th century ballet performances and interviews with some of the dancers. The drama, the intrigue, the beauty of the ballet! Dance, Billy, dance!
Freedomland
Didn’t Julianne Moore make this movie already? It wasn’t the black people who took your son, it was the aliens!!
Date Movie
This…wow…it just…seriously…will suck so bad. Here’s a tip: don’t actually bring a date to this.
*Austinist recommends. We also recommend these first runs: Brokeback Mountain, Capote, Chronicles of Narnia, Good Night and Good Luck, King Kong, The Matador, Match Point, Munich, The Squid and the Whale, Syriana, Walk the Line
