Country Roads (Take Me Home)

With more bars per capita than any other city in our country, and scads of delightful happenings taking place at said establishments every evening, Austin is - for us - one of those places where we feel like we're out doing something almost every evening. Naturally, it's fantastic for our social lives, but every so often one of us accidentally has a little too much to drink to get behind the wheel. So whadd'ya do? Risking a DWI is simply stupid. Hailing a cab is fairly convenient, but there's still that nagging dilemma of having your car randomly parked downtown overnight.

Enter Austin Designated Driver. It's all very simple: when you call up their "vehicle relocation service," they'll dispatch a two-person team to wherever your car is parked. You hand over your keys, one of the two guys (or girls) hops in the driver's seat, and you and your entourage of soused sin-seekers speed along your merry way to whatever destination you desire. And, at $2.95 per mile (with no minimum amount or pickup fee!), it's actually comparable to a taxi ride - expect without the horrible easy-listening radio station blaring and/or cacaphonic handsfree phone conversations.

ADD operates from 9pm-3am everyday, and by appointment as well. They've only a handful of drivers on staff as they're a fairly young business, and, from their website, seem to be looking for additional qualified "professional drivers."
