Car Stereo (Wars), the weekly indie rock/electro dance party championed by members of Austin band Single Frame and visual media artist collective Super!Alright! - the latter which recently was tapped to create all of the nifty vignettes for the 2006 Plug Awards in New York City - is moving from Sunday nights to Fridays at Plush, known otherwise as "that lounge/club that we generally avoid any other night."
Formed roughly six months ago, Car Stereo (Wars) is a weekly free dance party that focuses on new and old electro, rock and new wave music. They're supported largely by Filter Magazine and AddVice, and as such usually have tons of promotional swag (posters, vinyl and CDs) to pass out, from the likes of Bloc Party, DFA1979 and Beck. Free goodies? Absolutely!
This week, for the inaugural night of their Friday residency, Car Stereo (Wars) is bringing in Ghostland Observatory's Thomas Turner (we've mentioned them once or twice) to guest DJ, in addition to sets by CS(W) founders Adreon Henry and Christopher Rose. They're also giving away several free copies of the new LP from LA's She Wants Revenge ("Joy Division, sans Ian-Curtis-seizure-dance" -- Ed Note). Not a bad way to kick off the weekend, we say.
