Good Stuff from Zuraach Collective — and More to Come

zuraach hats.jpg

A couple of shots from the Zuraach Collective's opening of "Where Earth Meets Sky," a showcase of art, film, and photography by seven American students who have lived and studied in Mongolia, showing through March 20 at Flatbed Press. Unfortunately, a number of scheduled performers in traditional Mongolian dance, painting, throat singing, and more were snowed in at the airport in D.C., although the opening still had plenty of interesting speakers, art, and the occasional person sporting Mongolian garments (see above).

But photographer Ashley St. Clair — who went to Mongolia to apprentice in traditional saddle-making and also returned with an exhibit-full of beautfiul photos (see below) — promised Austinist that the performers would be invited to town again as soon as possible. When we hear more, we'll let you know.
