If a Kid Can Do It...

...we just might be able to, too.
The last stretch of the Marathon Kids fitness program was held this past Saturday. Marathon Kids consists of a 26.2 mile effort over a six-week period that is both a motivating and fun way for kids to stay in shape.
Since we were too old to participate with the kids, we're using it as our own personal motivation to get off our fannies and participate in some more active activities around town. We think that this weekend is a good weekend to start.
This Saturday, we want to "Walk With the Sheriff" on Auditorium Shores. It's free and is a mere 2 miles long. Expect us to be there early; we want that free t-shirt!
Although we're not going to run the Freescale Marathon and Half Marathon this year, we will no doubt be out there on Sunday morning, cheering on runners and doing what we can to keep them motivated and doing their best. The runners should be done with their physical training, but the mental preparations don't stop. And even though the route is supposed to be faster and more interesting than it has been in the past, runners love to be cheered on.
Organizers are still in need of volunteers to ensure that everything goes smoothly. Whether you're running or volunteering or just standing on the side in support of your favorite runner, make sure to dress appropriately; the weather is predicted to be pretty chilly and wet.
